CURRENT COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS

Conditions opening hospitality industry from February 18th 2022

  • As of Friday 18th 2022 Jopenkerk Haarlem is open daily from 10AM until midnight without restrictions.
  • There are no Covid-19 restrictions anymore in the Netherlands. The covid-check-App is no longer necessary.
  • A fixed seat, face-mask or keeping 1,5m distance is no longer mandatory.
  • There is no fixed number of guests who are allowed to visit.
  • If you have any symptoms, you take a self-test. If this is positive you go into quarantine until your symptoms disappear for more than 24 hours, or if you have a negative self-test. Please stay home if you have covid symptoms.

Are pets allowed inside Jopenkerk?

Pets are not allowed inside Jopenkerk Haarlem.
No matter how much we love animals ourselves, pets are not allowed inside Jopenkerk Haarlem. This is because of the fact we are also an active beer brewery, and due to the Dutch Food & Beverage Law it is not allowed to have animals inside.

You and your pets are of course welcome to visit us outside on our terrace. It is not possible to make a reservation for the terrace, feel free to walk by and inform with your staff if there is a table available outside.

Exception to this rule are certified guide & assistance-dogs, recognizable by their ‘at work’ vest.

Is it possible to keep in mind any dietary restrictions/allergies?

It is definitely possible to keep in mind any dietary restrictions and allergies if they are shared with us beforehand. Our Chef can adapt the menu based on the dietary requirements. It is also possible to eat vegetarian or vegan, please let us know beforehand by email, or if you make an online reservation let us know in the remarks-field.

Do I need to make a reservation, or can I just walk in?

Feel free to walk in! It is not possible to make a reservation for the Grand Café. We will find you a table as soon as possible. However, you can make a reservation for our restaurant for a High Beer or dinner.

The restaurant is open for dinner from Wednesday to Saturday.
The High Beer in Jopenkerk is only possible with a reservation, you can make your reservation online (at least 24 hours beforehand).

Reservations are ALWAYS inside Jopenkerk Haarlem. If you rather sit outside on our terrace we will check the availability on the spot. You cannot make a reservation for the outside terrace.

Can I reserve a table?

No, you cannot make a table reservation for the Grand Café.
We want to give everyone the chance to enjoy a delicious Jopen beer. Therefore, it is not possible to make a reservation for the outside terrace or Grand Café. Ask our staff if there is a table available or how long this will take. We will help you as soon as possible.

Exceptions: High Beer & À la Carte dinner
The High Beer is available from Thursday to Saturday afternoon inside Jopenkerk Haarlem. Please make your reservation beforehand, as the dishes from the High Beer are prepared with lots of love and attention, and this takes some time.

On Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday it is also possible to make a dinner reservation for our  à la carte menu in our restaurant on the first floor. You can make your reservation here: Dinner À La Carte.

Everyone is welcome daily for lunch or drinks and bites in our Grand Café. You don’t need a reservation for this. Our kitchen is open from 12.00hours to 22.00hours.

Can I choose if I sit in the café or in the restaurant?

Currently, all reservations are only for the restaurant on the first floor, however it is possible that our staff decides it is better to seat you in the Grand Café. It is not possible to say where you will sit beforehand. If there is anyone with difficulties walking the stairs we will ofcourse make a reservation in our easily accessible Grand Cafe.

LUNCH = CAFE

We do not make reservations for lunch, feel free to walk in and find a table in our Grand Café or outside terrace.

HIGH BEER = RESTAURANT

The High Beer is almost always in our restaurant on the first floor.
* We will make exceptions for those who have difficulties coming up the stairs, in this case we will place the reservation in the Grand Café. 

DINER = RESTAURANT

Dinner Reservations are almost always in our restaurant on the first floor.
* We will make exceptions for those who have difficulties coming up the stairs, in this case we will place the reservation in the Grand Café. 

How can I change my (already paid for) reservation?

Let us know by email! Reservations which are already paid for can always be changed to a different time or date based on our availability. You can check the availability through our website. If you have a new date you can send us an email with your name and reference number of the reservation. You will get a reply from us with confirmation of the changed reservation (based on availability). You can find your reference number in the confirmation email of  your reservation.

I had to cancel my reservation, but I already paid for it. What do I do?

If you have cancelled  your already paid reservation you will receive an email with cancellation confirmation and all your options for restitution. You can reply this email with your preferred option:

  1. Our preference goes out to changing your reservation to a different date. We can adjust the already paid reservation to the new date, then the reference number stays the same and we can directly see that the reservation has already been paid for. If you have found a new date, let us now by sending us an email with your name and reference number. We will confirm this new date based on availability.
  2. We can send a Jopen Gift Card to your address with the same value as the already paid for cancelled reservation. The Gift Card is valid for 5 years.
  3. We can send you a discount voucher of the same value as the already paid for cancelled reservation. You can use this voucher in our webshop.
  4. We can pay back the money if the reservation is cancelled at least 24 hours beforehand. We will process your pay-back request in our administrations department, the money will be send back within 15 work-days. Send us an email with your name and bankaccount details.
Are guided brewery tours possible at Jopenkerk?

We do not give guided tours through our beer brewery in Jopenkerk. Our brewery inside the church is too small for this. However, you can see the brewers at work from behind the glass walls in the Grand Café and restaurant.
We also have a second beer brewery located at industrial park Waarderpolder BusinessPark Haarlem, however this location is currently closed for visitors. We hope to re-open soon and provide guided tours through our beer brewery.  Check our website and social media for more information.

Can I choose a different time for the High Beer?

The High Beer is only possible at the given times in the online reservation system. The dates with the green line are available, the dates with the red line are already fully booked. Grey means we do not have High Beers that day.

Exceptions are not possible because this is not achievable for our kitchen-team. The bites for the High Beer are prepared and served on the given time period of the reservation, including explanation from our staff, so please be on time.

Do you have your own parking spots?

No, we do not have our own parking spots, however Parking garage “De Raaks” is located directly in front of Jopenkerk Haarlem.

Do you have vegetarian/vegan items on your menu?

We have various vegetarian and a few vegan items on our menu. If there are specific dietary requirements or allergies we have to keep in mind we’d like to hear this at least 48 hours beforehand.

Do you give group discounts?

We do not give discounts; in all our group arrangements we have already included a discount. If you were to order all items separately this would be more expensive. We do not give other discounts.

Do you have drinks-arrangements?

All drinks are on subsequent calculation, we do not have arrangements for this.
We do not work with set drink prices for a specific time period, however it is possible to hand out coins/tokens. These tokens get the value of the ordered drink and will be charged on subsequent calculation.
It is also possible to agree on a budget, we will give you a signal when this budget is almost reached.

Do you have other drinks besides Jopen beer?

Yes we do! Besides our 20 Jopen beers on draft and more than 50 on bottle or can we also have various soft drinks, coffee, tea, wines and strong beverages such as our Jopen Gospel Spirits; our own award-winning Gins. Ask our staff for options and advise!

Do you also have pilsners?

Yes we do! We have our own Craft Pilsner (bronze medal winner Dutch Beer Challenge 2022 in Pilsner category). We only have our own Jopen beers, besides the Craft Pilsner we also have a Craft Lager: The Juicy Lager.

Do you still brew beer at Jopenkerk, or is it only for show?

Six days a week our brewers work hard to brew the delicious Jopen Beers inside Jopenkerk Haarlem – this is not just for show! You can see our brewery from behind the glass wall in the Grand Café and from the restaurant at the first floor.

Are you open during the Holidays?

Yes we are open 365 days a year! During the Holidays our opening hours may differ, you can check this on our website on the contact-page.

I want to visit with a group, what are the possibilities?

Group inquiries for lunch, high beer or dinner for groups larger than 10 people we’d like to hear 2 weeks in advance by email to haarlem@jopenkerk.nl. Our restaurant has a maximum capacity of 60 people.
